Markakis Restaurant
Markakis Restaurant is located on the eastern side of Paros, at the picturesque harbor of Piso Livadi, a place that has gracefully preserved its authentic Cycladic character. Set right by the sea, overlooking the fishing boats and the endless blue of the Aegean, we have created a refined yet welcoming space, where the natural simplicity of the landscape meets the pleasure of good company and thoughtfully prepared food.
Our philosophy is guided by respect for the sea, the land, and the timeless traditions of island life. The menu highlights fresh fish and seafood, selected daily in harmony with seasonality and in close collaboration with local fishermen and producers. Complementing these are dishes inspired by traditional Cycladic recipes, prepared with restraint and care, allowing the purity and quality of each ingredient to stand out.
Our aim is to offer an authentic gastronomic experience, one that honors the roots of Cycladic cuisine and the spirit of Greek island hospitality. Each dish is paired with a carefully curated selection of Greek wines, ouzo, and spirits, chosen to enhance the flavors and reflect the richness of the Greek terroir.
At Markakis Restaurant, every meal becomes a quiet celebration — an invitation to enjoy lunch or dinner by the sea, with views of the harbor of Piso Livadi, in an atmosphere that blends flavor, tradition, and the relaxed elegance of the Aegean.
La cheffe
Maria Somboni is the heart and inspiration behind Markakis Restaurant — the woman who transformed her love for cooking and Greek hospitality into a place that feels authentic, warm, and rich in memories. With more than 30 years of experience, her journey is deeply connected to the values of family, sharing, and genuine care — values that lie at the very core of Greek culture.
Her culinary philosophy is rooted in simplicity and substance, embracing the spirit of the meze, a way of dining that brings people together around the table. Through traditional Cycladic recipes, she brings to the plate familiar and comforting flavors, such as taramasalata made with white fish roe, steamed mussels with Parian wine, garlic and dill, or the traditional Parian sun-dried mackerel “gouna” grilled to perfection — dishes that carry stories, memory, and tradition.
Inspired by island gastronomy, yet always guided by her own personal touch, Maria Somboni creates dishes that respect the integrity of the ingredients and express the true authenticity of Greek cuisine. Each plate is an act of hospitality — an invitation to sit at the table as part of our family.
At Markakis, the experience goes beyond food. It is a celebration of Greek hospitality, where tradition, family, and a love for good food come together to create moments meant to be remembered.
